Hi cam i have removed the sliding rear roof from my gmc envoy xuv.
Gmc envoy xuv retractable roof.
It had a retractable roof over what should ve been its cargo area which let drivers carry tall objects normally restricted by an suv s ceiling.
My question is how can i remove the lid or disengage the lid from the motor so i can slide it back to the closed position.
I have disconnected the battery removed the rear roof motor and the electronic.
But while the avalanche at least had cool styling the envoy xuv looked like a normal envoy wearing a backpack.
Enough that it tells you to close the roof but won t let you open the roof far enough to get to the screws to remove the lid.
The retractable roof added about 90 pounds of curb weight to the envoy all of which naturally was located up high.
Jokes on me i didn t have to open the roof and midgate to begin with.
The gmc envoy xuv was essentially a regular long wheelbase envoy with a retractable roof that allowed you to use the vehicle kind of like a truck.
Envoy xuv sales projected at 30 000 per year approximately a third of envoy production were much slower with just over 12 000 sold in 2004.
The roof is stuck open well almost.
The xuv came only on the longer of envoy s two available wheelbases.
The retractable roof is in the open position on my 2004 gmc suv and will not close using the internal overhead roof switch or the tailgate key switch roof closing owners manual instructions.
The side windows stayed in place when the power retractable roof slid up into the front of the vehicle s roof.
Gmc is dropping the unloved gmc envoy xuv which was supposed to be the revolutionary suv with the retractable roof and the magic liftgate originally seen on the ford ranchero that could opened three ways.
The test team at consumer guide did not make note of this top heaviness but the editors of several buff books did mention the handling compromise.
The day after i took ownership i used the rear section to carry a 55 gallon drum home.
But the rest of the xuv s roof was fixed so the objects couldn t be very long.
The tailgate swung to the side or folded down not unlike the honda ridgeline.
